This is awful... it sounds to me like the airport owners saw the nice building the museum had built and thought they should pay more for it... Changing the land use was just an excuse for getting them out. What happened there is truly disgusting!

"Civil" Servants hard at work! I do realize that airports have taken quite a hit since 911 and in trying to make budgets work, they have to gain revenue from somewhere, rather than raise taxes, they sock it to whom-so-ever uses the facilities. This isn't nice to volunteer organization, but what are you going to do? Do they answer to the County Commissioners, someone you can actually put pressure on who gets elected? We had a big stink with our little local airport a few years back and it got VERY political and polarized.

A very wise man once told me:
"The Happiest Day in the Life of a Metropolitan Airports Commission Employee is when it is raining too hard to fly or mow, and the coffee pot is full..."

Did I quote you correctly JD?

Aint that the truth...

I am very disappointed(though, unfortunately not surprised) that the bureaucrats were unable to see past the dollar signs and recognize the value that American Wings and their educational outreach programs bring to the community.

Stopped by on Sunday, August 2nd on my way through the Mpls Metro and decided to stop by. Very sad to see the ramp so empty. Many of the a/c are parked outside all along the airport with the bulk of them at the south end. The F-5 will be going back soon (don't know when). Ran into Les and Stan (directors) and their faces say it all.

Few shots from the visit...

I do believe that F-5 would fit nicely in my backyard! It is a shame that this has come to pass. :( Sad day for all I am sure.
