Help with Location ID - Blimp Hangar

Hi All -

I scanned some small prints that my friend Mike Burke has collected and I'm trying to tie down some locations on a few of them. Any thoughts on this hangar location and possibly the blimp type?

there are a coupe of old blimp hangars (Or were when I was a kid) at the airbase in Houma, La. they were just great big skeletons of concrete back then so they might have been got rid of.

I spent about fifteen minutes with google images. Saw a lot of hangars that did not match this one.

You can make out a "C -" designation on the nose. Did the Canadians use blimps?

Lakehurst, NJ
California [don't remember, I think it was Moffett Field]
Galveston TX also had a blimp hangar in the area.

Although I don't think it is the case, Brazil also had a couple of blimp hangars at a minimum, where blimps were used to patrol the Atlantic.

There was a huge blimp base in south Florida, Richmond NAS. Burned to the ground during a hurricane with dozens of aircraft in them for protection from the storm. BIG Hangars. Just concrete footings left now. See pic halfway down page, looks similar.

I'd have to say that it looks a lot like a picture I have of the interior of the Scott Field Dirigible hangar.
In fact I'd just about bet on it - if I was the type.

The big fllat doors make me think it is hangar 1 at Lakehurst..., but the windows & skylights appear wrong. The picture is of the earlier flat door, rather than the clamshell type door...

I'm 98% convinced it's Scott AFB. I would scan a photo I have that shows some of the interior, but I've got a test tomorrow and this is just a brief break from studying.

Hi Guys -

I'll go with what Ryan found - the windows and doors are right on and the other photos in the batch are from the St. Louis area - Scott Field/AFB is right across the river.

Not the hangar shown, but GLYNCO NAS was an interesting place. A nice bunch of pics and history is on the forgotten and abandoned airfields site. Check out the 1946 photo when the blimps were gone and they stacked wingless SNJ's on their noses for storage in a hangar!

It is conceivable that the location could also be Brooks Field TX. In the attached link there is a 1939 photo of a similar configuration hangar as well as a photo of a US Army blimp marked as C-2.
