Yeah, PC sucks. It's unfortunately become a way of life over the years, but it sure sucks.

That is EXACTLY was is destroying this country as we know it today.

Yah can't spank your kids anymore, the schools can't spank your kids anymore, you can't say certain things, you can't wear certain things.

FYI, I think I may be one of the persons referred to earlier about nose art. For the record, it's not the PC side of it that bothers me. I appreciate beauty like a normal guy might, but I also have religious convictions about it that tell me I should restrain that appreciation in order to prevent it from becoming lust or other sinful thoughts. Those same convictions also tell me that things like the discipline of children, and other things that are currently NOT PC are right. I have my own opinion about what is destroying our country today, part of which is the lack of discipline, but will save it as I think it would (note to self!) get too far off topic....

Here are some pictures that Dean (KD5H) found while researching our TC-45J. The first two we believe is of our particular airplane. As you can see, pretty plain paint jobs, they seem to be painted and NMF.

Here are some that I saw last week at the Selfrige ANGB Museum in Michigan. The first one is SNB-5 S/N 51108 according to the sign.

I didn't catch the s/n on this one

Pretty impressive little museum, I'll post more on a separate thread in the near future.

I'm a firm believer in nose art is history and should be replicated as it was originally. There is no difference in my mind between nude women in nose art and nude women in paintings and statues in the Louvre or any other art museum. Many of the same people that complain about "tacky nose art" don't have a problem taking thier children to an art museum and letting them look at a painting by Maitise that has a nude woman in it.

Congratulations on your new project. Feel free to contact us if there is anything we can help you with. We're looking forward to watching the progress.

There is another Tantalizing Takeoff out there that might be a bit more acceptable...

8th AF B-17?

BTW...not trying to re-side track this thread but...have you guys seen this 3D nose art website? Very cool stuff!

Can you post a pic of the patch then?

I would have been livid about the thong over the panties myself if it was supposed to be recreating the patch.

You can still use the name and the girl, but maybe you need to have the girl redrawn with her panties still in pre-flight. I happen to know someone who can help you with that... 8)

Yeah, I reckon I could recommend ol' Django for painting nose art on airplanes. ;-)

I'll second Gary's recommendation on a nose art painter. I have long range plans to use Django's services too!

I like the pics. I also like the other Tantalizing Takeoff nose art but I don't think it would work for this Navy aircraft. Here is the pic of the patch.

I will check with Django and see what can be done in the future. Patrick, thanks for the offer. I will need some help. It looks like it might be a couple months before the plane gets moved and started on. I like the projects that Legends of Aces have.

Congrats on the purchase. Looking for a similar type of ship in the north Texas area. Actually any C-45/D-18 is fine and also leaning toward something like an E-18.

Great to see these birds conserved.

Nice bird! What kind of mods does it need? I assume it doesn't have a sparstrap yet?

Hi everyone,

Work has started on the project. I went down and started taking it apart for moving. I'm starting with the tail section. So far I removed the elevator and just about have the horizontal off. I should have that off and moved next time. In the mean time I have some items to restore.

Working on the elevator and it's parts. I need to find the base nuts for the two lights. Does anyone have 2 of these nuts around they don't need?

Eric,

So close and yet...

Checked my Dad's logbook and he flew both 12378 and 12375 at Corpus Christi in April/May 1944.

Looking forward to watching your progress!
