That looks like the standard USN "three tone" scheme of Dark Blue/Intermediate Blue/White, with the US insignia crudely painted out (possibly with fresh Intermediate Blue.)

Hi Steve,

Gosling in Royal Navy have a British camo and not USN.
Pics from an another post here with Widgeon in USN camo:

Royal Navy paint it with Sky for underside and Dark Slate Grey and Extra Dark Sea Grey for upperside.

Here's the camo on Connie's bird. It's supposedly painted as it was back in the War......

I worked with a guy 30 years ago who flew RN Widgeons around Bermuda for the Governor and his staff even though he was with the RAF Ferry Command. He also flew Coronados across the Atlantic and also ferried various types including Cats (some in Russian markings), Mitchells and Canadian-built Mosquitoes. Sadly, his photos were very blurred and not worth copying in those days before computer enhancement. Doh!

Maybe a Grumman Gosling at the Grumman stickie here http://tinyurl.com/lxb7yt but you will have to look. I know there are some Gooses, but I can't remember all of them....

is it Gooses or Geese?

Sorry SPang, I lost contact with the guy many years ago when he moved. He may not still be alive now anyway.

Here's a shot of a G44A that I took in Royal Navy camo at Oshkosh 2005. Dunno how true it is to the original, but it is still quite a beautiful aircraft!

Although the paint scheme on the Oshkosh Gosling is certainly striking I highly question the authenticity of the colours selected...especially the use of Gloss. The "Conniebird" Gosling pictured seems to be the most representitive of the period colour scheme.

Hi,

I have find inside an Air Enthusiast that Grumman Goose is use by the 749 Squadron at Piarco (island of Trinidad) or HMS Gowhawk during the same time.
Anyone have pics of Goose or of the base?

Thanks a lot
