Well, it was certainly a wet day today. The airshow never even started. Got to see the Red Tail land but was too far for pictures. I saw we had 266 Warbirds registered through so far. The sky was pretty crummy for great pics but i'll have some as soon as I get them loaded on flickr.

As always, thank you for the photos Al, and I am looking forward to more from you! I just looked through your most recent set, and it was a great surprise seeing Ron Fagen's P-40E there - it looks superb! I take it that Bob Baker's "Little Rebel" has yet to arrive - I'm looking forward to seeing it in completed form.

Thanks so much. I'm just about to post some of those shots on here. I overheard that Little Rebel had a small bug to fix but didn't hear how long it would take. I'm hoping to see it and will certainly put up shots as soon as I can. With all the rain today i'm getting a good chance to go through my shots. That checkertail P-40 is a thing of beauty!
And as for what Rich mentioned, I can't believe it's been over a year already since Alan's accident. I look forward to an Aeroshell 4 ship but wish he were back in the lead.

I've been here for two days now and am getting pretty tired of the rain. Still having a good time though! After the Granley's had to cancel, I nearly didn't come. I figured since I didn't actually have a job then I would just save my leave. Now I'm glad I came up.
The lancaster coming in today was the coolest thing I've seen in many years!

That Lancaster sounded so awesome! It was nice to run across you the other day. Hope the weather gets better for your last couple days here and keep your fingers crossed it doesn't head to Abbotsford!

I'll do the best I can with the spare time i've got. The rain gave me some free time today so we'll see how it goes. I'm sure others will help out too!

from those pics of the 'Red Tail' the other day when they first test flew it. the P-51c Red Tail looks REALLY good. the paint looks finished, are they actually done? if so, they really did a great, and fast job on the paint job! one more time, GREAT JOB red tail boys!

You are absolutely correct. I have no excuse other than an overloaded brain. I knew the gentleman's name was Herb, and I still messed it up.
I have edited my original post, as Herb most certainly deserves the credit.

Is this the aircraft from Uvalde ? If so, Herb built that wing from scratch !

Not only the wings, but the center section too. Now that's a huge undertaking! During original production, Fairchild and the other builders outsourced a lot of the woodwork to organ/piano building companies.
An Aeronca built PT-23 I used to own still had the organ builders' company stamps on the internal wing woodwork.
Again, my hat is off to Herb for the dedication and skillset he devoted to raising this PT from the dead. 22 years of hard work!

Yep, and herb did beautiful work. He has a couple other projects but said he is done.
