The RCAF/CAF Canadair Argus CL-28 was retired from service in 1982. A number were selected for museum or displays.

CFB Summerside PEI, CFB Greenwood NS, Canada Aviation Museum Ottawa and CFB Comox BC.

Another was stored a CFB Mountainview as a training aid for terrorist training. Was this the same aircraft that is now on display at RCAF Trenton Museum? Is so how was the aircraft transported from Mountainview to Trenton?

Another Argus was stored at Gimilli Manitoba for the Western Canada Aviation Museum but I believe it was disassembled and perhaps scrapped with some of the aircraft parts going to another museums? Can anyone confirm? Does anyone have an information or pictures of this aircraft while in storage?

I have heard that the one at Trenton was used as an aid for anti terrorism training so it is probably the same one. I would guess it was transferred with a short hop ferry flight, and if so it was likely the last Argus flight. Of course non of this is confirmed.

If it was transferred by road that that would have been interesting to see. With the wings and tail removed it might be possible, but geez!

Yes this indeed is the same Argus that is now at trenton. She was stripped out inside unfortunaately. I am not sure if she is still a shell inside now that she is at trenton though. She was not flown but was carfully dismantled and trucked to trenton for reassembly.

According to the information at the museum, it was refurbished in 1996 by the personel at CFB Trenton...and externally it does seem in pretty good shape...would love to see what she looks like inside...

I was in Halifax a few years ago I visited the ACAM and Greenwood and was able to see the Argus Simulator and the real thing at Greenwood...

I think I have the serial #'s on the other survivors...
10715 was at WCAM(no longer presumed scrapped)
10739 PEI
10712 COMOX
10742 Ottawa
10732 Trenton
10717 Greenwood...

I also have images from the fence at Mountainview but they are not scanned.

Wow imagine seeing an Argus on the Airshow curcuit....

I would happen to seeing one in running condition again..

And I still think the Pearson Connie should try to get to the CWHM...

Gentlemen,
The WCAM did not scrap their Argus. It is currently in outdoor storage at an undisclosed location--their private storage area. They have tons of parts for any future restoration of the interior.
Yours very truly,
Norman Malayney

The CWH Argus was a Fairchild Argus. Three less engines... :)

Yes a different kind of Argus indeed..the CWHM has a nice silver one do they not.

So the WCAM museum Argus still exists..so there is hope for a sixth survivor...rumours of her death has been greatly exaggerated perhaps...
