I just got this from my dad.....

There was a gray CT-133 sitting on the "hot" ramp at Trenton during the airshow. It appeared it had a N number, but as we were in the Harvard doing a flyby, I didn't get a good look.

Hopefully he'll be OK. Still sad to hear about any incident..but it sounds like it could have been much worse.



I thought the Canadian military had retired the last of their CT-133s.

If it's the one I'm thinking of it's now ex-military and was flown out of CFB Trenton's Mountainview Detachment (5-10 minute flight) with a civilian registration.

It's been sitting on the ramp for the last month.

Not to be "that guy", but it looks more like the T-33 went off-roading rather than "crashing". I'm sure it won't be cheap, but it looks repairable.

I'm just curious how he managed to get into the ditch like that... that's pretty fancy pilotin'.

I agree, but it did travel a fair distance from the runway, through one fence and over a service road before coming to rest at the perimeter fence.

Yes it was privately owned and was going to be flown down to Ft Worth, Texas for its new owner.

CFB TRENTON, Ont. — A private jet crashed Wednesday at the Canadian Forces Base in Trenton, Ont. shortly after takeoff, sending the lone pilot to hospital with undetermined injuries.


CFB Trenton spokesman Capt. Mark Peebles said the pilot was a civilian who was flying the T-33 aircraft back to its owner in Fort Worth, Tex. He said the plane took off shortly after noon Wednesday but after it was airborne it had to return to the tarmac for an unknown reason and skidded off the runway.


"It went through a fence and came to rest just inside the airfield," said Peebles. "Personnel took measures to prevent contamination and possible fire risk."


The lone pilot managed to get out of the aircraft and was taken to hospital when emergency crews arrived. Peebles said the pilot's injuries are unknown, but he is expected to survive.


The military said it was investigating to find out what happed to the plane.


Peebles did not know who the pilot is or whether he is American or Canadian.


According to the website Warbird Alley, the T-33 is the most widely used jet trainer in the world. A two-seater version of the U.S. Air Force's first jet fighter, the F-80 Shooting Star, the T-33 is still in use around the world

Geez I hope it wasn't our good friend Paul K. has he's been known to ferry a few from Canada.

Glad to hear the pilot is survived. I heard it was CT-133 133648, can anyone confirm this?

No Jack, T33driver, Maj. K. is doing just fine here in beautiful Waukesha. It was another pilot, and yes, glad to hear he was not injured too badly.

I'm still here Uncle Jack! Thankfully the pilot is fine, going home tomorrow. Aircraft is former RCAF T-33 #648, was ejection seat test bed i.e. no rear seat, instruments, just a metal tub in rear cockpit. I've heard specifics on the cause from someone close to the operation but prudence dictates I hold off saying anything since facts get mixed up pretty quickly in these situations.
