Anybody going to the Abbotsford airshow in a few weeks? I'm scheduled to take a C-17 up there.

We should be arriving with the C-17 at Abbotsford around 1300 (tomorrow) Thursday.

My dad will be getting into SeaTac tonight and then we'll be heading up around 6 a.m. Friday and will hopefully be staying to check out the departures on Monday morning. After that we may stop by the Canadian Museum Of Flight seeing as it's so close and he's never been there.

Between Oshkosh and this my work is probably gonna send out a search party soon. :D

Hey everyone that's going!

I'll be at the show all day Saturday with my girlfriend (Marina) and her Dad and Brother. Thank goodness they all enjoy airshows!

Cheers,

David

We landed on Thursday afternoon and came home on Monday morning. The weather made for some challenges but ,as in the past, Abbotsford still ranks as one of my all time favorite airshows. Just getting out of Oklahoma was great but getting to hang out with so many of my friends was the highlight. I can't wait to go back.

We dropped the Skyhawks parachute team several times and flew the C-17 demo everyday except Sunday due to a mx problem.

I was able to ride in the truck while Kent Pietsch landed his airplane on top. It was hard to get a picture of the airplane but I did what I could.

There were a few warbirds there.

I had a birds eye view of the Canadian Heritage flight. Seeing the F-86 flying behind me was a pretty cool sight. I just wish it had been closer!

If you look in the center of the picture, you'll see them at the intersection.

And a view of the airshow grounds.

What is the designation 'KC'.., where did it come from.., i know it is for aerial tanker.., but why not 'AT'?

Why 'KC' and the Sunshine Band!!

The "K" portion means tanKer, while the "C" portion means Cargo. It is a dual use platform that is used for both, hence the KC designation, same as a KC-135.

The next part is a guess. The letters "A" and "T" were already taken, as "A" refers to an "attack" aircraft, while the "T" refers to a trainer. So, this is probably why it is not referred to as an "AT".
