They built a mock up B-24, why not a B-32.

Do you mean that monstrosity we got in trade for 44-51288, that aircraft holds so many memories for me, darn BRITS!

In all seriousness the aircraft is now gorgeous and out of the South Texas humidity.

No,
No B-32 survived past 1947. The airforce had 1 airframe set aside at DM for the future air force museum and then allowed it to be scrapped.

the plane at McCarran was a C-124.

Not the aircraft I was thinking about or that the article referenced. Too bad that 124 had to end like it did. I photographed several times, the last while she was being scrapped.

There is some reference to the B-32 at the NMUSAF back by the B-29. Now I would still love to see a full scale mock up on display and use as many real parts as we can. The Air Force Museum didn't allow the aircraft to be scrapped, it was an accident on behalf of the guys that cut it up.

Would be super neat thats for sure. Would never really be like seeing a B-32 or experiencing one, but it would be a really neat one of itself.
If you were not interested in anything other than and exterior shell display what do you think it would cost?
Very neat to think about.

No Matt the story was in fact about a B-32. I the first R6V did hang around in Vegas for some time, I believe the 2nd was scrapped in FL in the early 80s?

it could not have been a B-32, as none survived past 1947, and none were sold as surplus, all were scrapped at Walnut Ridge, Kingman, Tucson.

Actually Matt I think it was the "Globe" or "Star" that had the Moon story, not the reputable fine upstanding "Enquirer". I'm getting spelling lessons now in Spanish, don't have Spanish spell check so I better not use those words.

It was the Weekly World News which also first reported the UFO that landed on the Nimitz and Clinton's secret negotiations with a "Space Alien"
