Jack, or anyone, can you ID these two P-47N's. They were taken on Okinawa in 1946 and have been scanned from a 1 1/2 in by 2 1/2 print. Photos by William K. Thomas

But this one does not have the cowl ring painted? Perhaps same but not sure. Lots of nice pics at that site, including P-47 Razorbacks taking off from USS Manila Bay are very cool!

Re: that Flickr link... them boys in the 318th had a severe b00b fetish. :D They had some of the most spectacular nose art ever applied to a fighter, but I have to say that P-38 "Vagrant Virgin" was absolutely jaw-dropping... took up the ENTIRE port armament bay door!
