Nice picture, thanks. No, not complete to the best of my knowledge, but a corroded wreck of one was pulled up near Denmark a few years back.

Double no..that picture is miscaptioned. It's not an Fw-200, but a Ju-290..a much rarer animal to begin with, and also sadly extinct. One was flown to the States for evaluation post-war, but sadly later scrapped.

Back to the Condor, I've always liked the look of the aircraft, and wish one had been preserved. As A2C mentioned, the substantial remains of an Fw-200 were recovered from underwater a few years ago, but I believe it broke apart while being loaded onto a barge (Condors were know for structural failures when even when new..as a converted airliner, the airframe just wasn't "beefy" enough to handle the stresses and loads of a bomber.) I'm not sure if there are plans to restore it.

The Fw200 was recovered in Norway and being rebuilt by various companies in Germany for DTM Berlin.

You might want to read this about link posting as well....

Photos of the preserved (with portions restored Fw.200C-3 can be seen on the Preserved Axis AAircraft webpage at http://www.preservedaxisaircraft.com/

Many years ago in Air Classics mag there was a picture of a Fw.200 fuselage in France. Always wondered what happened to it, as it is not listed on any surviving aircraft listings that I know of.

Oh, yeah. They arrived in a Junkers W-33 and nearly died.
Quote:
A W-33 became famous when on a 1932 flight from Soerabaja, Dutch East Indies, to Darwin, and it became lost in a storm. The crew of Hans Bertram and Adolph Klausmann were missing for 53 days in the bush. They were rescued by a local farmer. In 1984/85 the ABC made a very good TV mini-series about it, and they created a full-scale replica of D-1925, which was non-flying but taxied at high speed on water due to its Jaguar car engine. The replica went to the RAAF Association at Perth and was displayed next to the floats of the real plane.

But still no Ju-290s/FW-200s or Bf-109s... Is there a Salsberg in Australia?

Oh, we hung on to the 109 when someone tried to export it. Others have passed through...

Negative on the Ju 290 and Fw 200s though.

Probably. There's nearly as many secondhand place names here as in the USA.

[....wanders off Checks wanders back...]

Actually, no.

Are we off topic yet?
