I can confirm, that the airplane did fly. I went to visit on Saturday afternoon. That is a great group of guys and they have a beautiful hanger. The A-26 flew I think 3 weeks ago. They had a good turn out and they have a few pictures posted in their hanger of the flight. I have a few pictures I took in the 1000+ from the weekend and will post them soon.

As a side note, the plane is owned by the Tallichet(sp?) estate. Now that it is flying.....They are not sure they will be able to keep it. I was told that today, Monday the 29th, John(?) Tallichet(sp?) was coming to visit the facility and they were hoping to learn the fate of the plane. Not to start, spark, or anything else, debate.......I hope it either stays with the family who made her fly or.....goes to somewhere where she WILL fly. This is one restoration that deserves better than static display.

Just for the record, I was told the plane WILL be at Genesseo(sp?). The guy who flew it and will return to fly it more is from as I recall Texas. I think the story is that he is a check airman for the A-26 and is named Norm?

Just a few details, now I will read the newsletter to see if I get a Gold Star!

Sorry to take so long getting these up. The pictures are about the best I could do with the airplane stuffed in the hanger. Not many places to get an unobstructed shot. Also, looks much better in real life than the pictures make it out.

Rare nose with guns layed out horizontally, opening bomb bay doors, still set up for single pilot. Way cool! More pics please!

Thanks for the update. I really hope you're right and she makes it to Geneseo! Austin W himself said there was no available crew....but if you heard it straight from the pilot then there's reason for hope.

I wish I had heard from the pilot, but my information is from the guys at HAS. I was told that John Tallichet wanted it at Genee so pilot is supposed to be coming back up to fly some more time on her. I may be headed back to that neck of the woods again about the 25th of July, so I will try to make it back to their hanger and find out more about what is happening with the plane.

Does HAS have anything in common with MAPS that used to have this A-26 on loan some years ago?

No connection other then they are Ohio museums who have aircraft on loan for restoration from MARC. However, this A-26 was never at MAPS. It was stored outside at Cuyahoga County Airport in Cleveland and then went to HAS. There was talk it would come to MAPS, that but never happened.
