Warbird Information Exchange

This was taken by a coworker at Davis-Montham in 1976-78. Anybody know the story of this bird?

I think this was an/the aircraft modified to test Fly-By-Wire controls. The s/n escapes me at the moment.

with this info:

"56-0632 (cn 17315) The Control Configured Vehicle test NB-52E was fitted with three canard control surfaces (two horizontal and one ventral) which were linked to computers receiving flight data from sensors mounted throughout the aircraft monitoring turbulence, which fed back compensatory control inputs. Although here on 'Celebrity Row' next to the prototype for the Boeing 707, she was scrapped in 10.93"

Looks like it would be a cool modelers project! Was that Monogram that had the 1/72nd scale? That takes me back a few decades!

I was about to ask about the extra 'winglets' on her cheek and chin., and there you go with Airliners!! VIOLA


The Monogram B-52 was the largest box on the planet.., of course the model wrattled around inside like Monogram liked to do with their kits.., but a HUGE box!!!!!

hah.., i remember.., and also for the 1/72 version.., a box twice the size of the 1:48 scale B-29 and 1/2 scaled down version!
