Here's a few shots of this year's crop of restorations at Creve Coeur Airport. Several are just about ripe and should be flying very soon.

Terry Chastain is putting the finishing touches on John Cournoyer's Stearman.

Terry is always finishing up John's D-145 Monocoupe

Terry Chastain has also just finished up his own Cabin Waco. This photos does not do it justice, it's beautiful.

Dr. Gardner's Ranger powered Great Lakes is a relatively new arrival at Creve Coeur. This was taken just after they returned from Bartlesville.

All things considered, a fun weekend. It's nice to see people flying again. It's been a long Winter and a very wet Spring. The weather was pretty nice this weekend, between thunderstorms that is.

I had a feeling you would be asking that question! :D It's sitting directly across the taxiway from the D-145, in another hangar but it's still wearing it's Halloween costume (it is covered with sheets). I'll get some photos of it this week. I promise it's still here. I assume it's going to join it's older brother and sister down at your place one of these days, right? I have not seen any photos of the C-2 and C-3 since they left Creve Coeur. Next time you get a chance, please post a few shots, I'd love to see them again. That three cylinder Jacobs on the C-2 sure was interesting.

Okay Albert, you show me yours, I'll show you mine... :)

The C-2 is hanging in our hangar. Both it and the C-3 were sold by John to the Spartan School, and they still have technical ownership. They have shown no desire to fly the C-2, and we haven't wanted to spend any resources working on that airplane until it's ours. It is well cared for, and gets cleaned about once a month. It is still dripping oil, about 8 years after its last flight. Photos:

And one more artsy one, shot by Paul Stephenson of KOTV for the museum:

Also, just for fun... here's a couple of vintage ones that you probably never saw of this aircraft:

Circa 1930's:

And with George Goodhead, who rescued this aircraft from oblivion and restored it in the 1960's:

Okay, and for the C-3:

It was here at our hangar after our move in 2005-2006, until Spartan came over and said that they wanted to fully restore it (again) and fly it up to Oshkosh. That was 2007. They were targeting for Oshkosh 2008. First a photo or two of it in our hangar, followed by a photo or two of how it looks as of a week or two ago: (oh, and a vintage one just for fun...)

Draw your own conclusions... I'm sure wishing them good luck, and the guy doing the restoration is doing a fantastic job. It's going to be a real head-turner when it's done.

So how bout those Exec photos, huh?

:)

The Spartan Executive was sleeping. You know how crabby these things can be when you wake them up.

Any estimate on when the Spartan will awaken and take to the air once again? Although covered in the picture, it doesn't look like it needs much more than reinstalling the wings and the cowling.
