That is Connie Maffey, and he was a B-24 crew chief in WWII. He loved the "24" and loved the ride his son bought him. They both flew with us on Friday and this is why I do this!! With Memorial Day approaching, we must never forget the sacrifices these young men made and the honor they deserve!

I was standing in the back yard in Big Spring with my family about 45min ago and saw the B-24 heading back to Midland from Addison. I pointed her out to my wife and said "That's one of the reasons I keep going to Midland". She thought that was pretty cool so I guess she'll let me go back again.

Brad, glad to see that you noticed us flying overhead, heading west..... as this is what I saw at that about that same time......


During the flight I maneuvered around the nosewheel up to the nose of "Ol' 927" (with permission of the flightcrew)....

Self explanetory.

What a view....... It also makes one very humble when you think about how much of nothing is between you and an exploding cannon shell........

We want all of you to work with us if you are truly interested and can handle the complexities of working with the rules of the CAF, The B-29/B24 Squadron and The Cavanaugh Flight Museum. so to get to the bombardier's station in a B-24, you had to crawl around the nose gear? How the heII were you supposed to have bailed out of a 24 in a death spiral.., i guess not!

I once read about a B-24 nose crewman who decided to kick back and read a magazine on the way home. he leaned back on the nosewheel doors, and out he went. Unfortunately, he had used his chest chute as a pillow.

This is probably going to seem like a very silly question, but has the CAF been contacted by Michael Bay or any of his representatives to use "Ol 927" in a future Transformers movie?

I saw "Revenge of the Fallen" the other night, and not to spoil anything but part of the plotline involves locating old Transformers that have been here a long, long time (like Jetfire, which is the Smithsonian's SR-71).

One of the scenes showed an open file with pictures of suspected "sleeper" Transformers, and a map of the US where they were supposed to be located. One of the pictures was of a B-24A, and one of the dots on the map was just about where Midland, TX is (yes, I know '927 and FiFi have moved to Cavanaugh). Really intrigued me ...
