I found these pictures on webshots, linked from a German aviation forum.

Does anyone know where this aircraft is located or any other details.

Al. :)

In addition to the 4-bladed prop and dimpled engine cowling, what's the deal with the fake glass cockpit with a fake car stereo head unit in it?

That looks like a Dynon EFIS system with a Garmin GNS430 GPS/nav/Com and a Garmin transponder on the bottom right, not a car stereo. Have no idea about the prop...

I beleive those Fluk Werk replicas use Russian engines. Could the cowl and prop just be Russkie parts temporarilly installed to make it look complete?

Here is the glass cockpit:

Wow, a 4 bladed prop, different cowling and glass cockpit. I wonder if he's going to make a Reno racer out of it? That would be interesting to see. I'm sure jet1 would be very happy to see that.

If I were to race it, though, I would take out the Ash-82 engine and put a 3350 on it. With the 190's lighter weight than the Sea Fury and a 3350, it would surely be a stiff competitor at Reno.

Notice the Artificial Horizon is in a left turn bank. The plane just WANTS to turn left. It must be getting ready for Reno!

Anyone know what the story is here?

Restorers are sometimes known for *adding* things to incomplete airframes just to mess with people taking pics ;)

The Dynon "instrument" is a picture lifted from the Dynon website. I had the exact same picture stuck to the panel on my RV-6 until I installed the actual unit. That explains the left bank.......
It looks to me like the entire "panel" is just cut and paste pictures :)

Looks very much like the entire QEC from the Russian built TU-2.

Just a guess, but it looks like it is one of the original kits that Flug Werk was selling for about $550 USD. The kit did not come with any wiring, instrumentation, exhausts, and other key items. Those russian radials came off of something, so they have simply installed the russian cowling and propellor to whatever those engines were manufactured for onto the FW-190 project.
You can clearly see that there is a heck of a lot of work remaining to get a kit finished into a credible flying aircraft.

interesting! here's a good paint scheme for it :)

Image

Seriously though, it does remind me of one of the development prototypes (V10?) that had a four-blade prop and IIRC an underbelly Mustang-style scoop. It would look good painted overall RLM 02 with some delivery codes or something.

Is this supposed to be a flyer? Looks like something slightly homemade!

I hope they only use the engine and get rid of that UGLY-ASS cowling and 4 bladed prop. That totally destroys the illusion, IMO.

Yes, I know, if I pay for it, I can change it, but if you're going to all the trouble of making a near perfect replica, why ruin it with something so unoriginal?

I am sure the TU-2 engine cowl and prop are only on there temporarily. I would be certain that a Hartmann Prop will be installed, the cowl is probably just to provide some engine cooling and cover while the FWF is dialled in. I'm sure there will be a more reasonably cockpit fit out as well. Patience people.....
