Hope so... the NASM doen't need to keep an airworthy B-17 out of sight in storage for another few decades.

The NASM's ex-tanker is now on display at the Mighty 8th A.F. Museum in Georgia.

US$15M???? I doubt they'd even come close to getting that much for a flying B-17. I can't see it being more than US$8M, and in this economy, even that seems a big stretch!

Since the number of available airplanes are near zero (or is zero), I'd venture to say that a flying B-17 is basically worth what a seller will part with the airplane for....he can name the price and the prospective buyer can pay if he wants the airplane enough. $15 million the going price? Could be. Or $5 million, or $20 million? Could be.

Hi Guys, as far as we know here at HAG, the Belle is not for sale. It is in the middle of an airshow circuit and will be re-painted soon. Also there are plans for next winter's storage and what maintenance may be done at that time. As I'm sure you many of you know, MARC is operating the Movie "Memphis Belle" and there are no immediate plans for re-locating the B-17.

Ah, the plot thickens. So, by process of elimination, we can figure out who is going to sell their B-17.

I had forgotten about the Evergreen B-17. That sounds like a high probability, given they've been selling off a few of their planes recently. Also, other candidates could be the "Liberty Belle", since Don will have another B-17 flying in a few years. Also, nobody has mentioned "Chuckie".

Can people associated with these planes start narrowing the field and deny there are plans to sell their B-17's?

If everybody participates, we can figure this out in fairly short order! :D

The CAF has two, and with their recent history seems nothings safe. (Donning the Nomex now)

Evergreen selling off some of their stuff :?: :?: :?: :? :? , you mean Tillamook right :?: I know money talks and I really can't speak for these groups but in my opinion I don't think that Evergreen or Doc Hospers will get rid of theirs over their dead bodies , so to speak :!: But like its been said MONEY TALKS :!: :!:

I can assure you that Chuckie is not up for sale. "Over Doc's dead body" is putting it lightly. She is the centerpiece of the VFM. Anyone that has met Doc can tell you that he's more into buying stuff than selling it.

I can tell you that the NMUSAF and NASM stuff won't be going. I have a hard time thinking that the Evergreen Museum is selling anything. The B-25 wasn't their aircraft, the owner was nice enough to park it there. That is jack Cook's B-25.
