I'd like to see them fire up the engine and do some taxi runs.

She is over in the A and D hangar now. They did a great job on her.

Don't know if I'd go as far as saying she looks nice! Good job in restoration, but a bit of a Frankenstein look! Leave it to GM to design and build something the people don't want or need!
Sounds like she had some seriously dangerous flying characteristics. But I guess we'll never know if those could have been ironed out. Looked to have had a good theoretical range, rate of climb and speed, but by the time she was test flying, we had enough types of good AC in the pipeline.

Well, I think she is kinda pretty, maybe some paint and some invasion stripes, no, even better, Sharks Teeth!

All kidding aside, I am just glad it did not get turned into an aluminum ingot!

It is static at the NMUSAF. The sole remaining example.

Read it was in really bad shape, structural corrosion. 10 years to rebuild. Who was storing it?

I can say I recall it being as NMUSAF on my first trip there which must have been in about 1978 or so.

I remember it sitting outside over at the NMUSAF Annex back in the late '70s. It lingered in the Annex hangars in rough shape for years until being pulled off display in the 90s for restoration. An interesting footnote in aviation history (and a lesson in how NOT to design and airplane.) I'm glad it was preserved..but I would have rather they'd saved an XB-35/49 Flying Wing instead.
