Wacos at Creve Coeur

Sun Jun 21, 2009 2:46 am

Considering all the pop-up thunderstorms that have been battering the midwest all week, I'm surprised any Waco types showed up at Creve Coeur this weekend. Seventeen die hard Waco pilots did manage to sneak into the area between thunder bumpers. Combined with the Wacos based at Creve Coeur, I think we had a total of thirty two Wacos on the field. Not bad considering it was hot enough to melt a brass doorknob. At least the beer was cold.

Here's the new crew pickup and delivery "follow me" float.

Here's the only Waco that really matters.

Whoa! Who flew the S3HD out? Dick or Hank? That's a heck of a flight from New Hampshire!

You're right about the only WACO that counts!
Love that plane.
Didn't Dick Jackson have it up for sale a few years ago?

Dick and his wife flew it down from New England with the idea of heading over to the National Club's 50th anniversary flyin next week. What Dick does not know is that I welded the hangar doors closed after he went to the hotel Saturday evening! I warned him that if he ever brought it back to Creve Coeur I might try to keep it here! He did have it for sale and I think he still would let it go for the right price. If I had the money.......if only. :(

Great pictures. What is the N# on the red UPF-7 with the 300 Lyc? My old boss was building one up with a 300 Lyc and wondered if that was his.
