Attending OSH this year is a "no brainer". Watching The Defender will simply be icing on the cake.

I was at the Lake Wales, FL, airport in the late 1970's, and saw several pieces of a Grumman (Columbia) J2F-6 Duck on the ground with Diemert's name painted on them. This was after I had returned from North Dakota and had spent several days off and on at Diemert's place in Carman, Manitoba. He had not mentioned any interest in a Duck, and I was surprised to see the pieces.

Does anyone know if he did indeed put together a Duck, or was this maybe wishful thinking on his part.

Walt

Never heard of the Defender before so I'm loving this thread. Is 'turbulating' a real word? I really like his description of the flight envelope of the first one, something like 'narrow stability feature'. A dump truck flying off a cliff has more in common with an airplane than the Defender.

Good lord. I just finished watching it. I can't believe I've never heard of this before.

Wow.

Anyone notice that the same Director/producer/writer also did "Fighter Pilot: Operation Red Flag"

From Carmen to Nellis...

Just watched it for the 1st time after hearing about it for years (thanks for the link Chris!).

I can't seem to form words that describe what I just witnessed.

It's a documentary of epic "something" proportions.....I just don't know what word to use for "something".

Ive heard about this for what must seem a couple of decades but never got around to getting a copy. Thanks for the link, I just finished watching it. I thought the airplane at least flew- but it couldn't even do that. Just unbelievable. That guy Chris is like some comedic actor they hired for this. He at least built some cool cars.
