I am resigning from the volunteer role of moderator with immediate effect, due to the personal attacks based on nationality specifically, by Jlittle and Hellcat, and general abuse and presumptions of actions taken.

I'm sorry I can no longer try and keep the forum working for the majority, and those posters who wish to discuss warbirds.

I was not responsible for banning Bill Greenwood. Only Scott can ban members.

I (perhaps foolishly) volunteered to help out as a moderator to Scott. Since starting, and even though I have simply been following the agreed forum rules, I've never received as much abuse, both inaccurate and personal in any of the other jobs I've done. I've frankly been amazed at the insults and inaccurate charges at times.

I've stuck with it through some pretty raw times, because the forum's worth it. Currently it's making my dog wait for his walk, and I've realised he's more important right now.

Anyone who thinks there's some power to enjoy here as a moderator should try it.

Good luck, and play nice. My apologies to those who've tried to be supportive or just stick to warbirds.

Regards,

JDK, I am really sorry to see this. I think you always tried to be fair and keep things o warbirds. I am apart of a few other forums that the mods are far more strict on. I think you did a great job, and did so as a volunteer. I am sure there were times we had our disagreements, but I like to think that we always kept them civil, and ALWAYS touched base afterwards to say that there were no hard feelings. My hat is off to you.

James, please don't go! I've never known an Aussie to have a soft shell. You blokes are a tough lot! Shake it off and get back to work! (Well, okay, take the dog for his walk first, THEN get back to work!).

Seriously, I want to say that I truly appreciate what you do for WIX, trying your best to keep things civil. The rules are the rules, plain and simple. They need to be enforced, or chaos will take over. Overall, you do a darned good job at it, mate. Yeah, some of our members get a bit rowdy at times, and some can be pretty coarse. You can't let them get under your skin. Be the bigger man, let the bull-crap slip on by, and keep doing what you're doing.

Cheers,

I, also, am sad to read this, James.

Many thanks for your work (as you certainly had a flair for the task), and I hope you stay on as a lurker/poster after that walk with the dog.

Like I said in the other thread, this is very sad and a loss to Wix. I for one do not blame you for your actions but hope you do stay and share your knowledge.

If you ever come to Ontario Canada, look me up I would like to buy you a pint or two for the great work you have done here on Wix.

Cheers dave C

That sucks, I thought you were good at it and fair. But i understand that its probably more hassle than anyone needs.

Please continue to post and share your vast knowledge with the rest of us.

James,

I'm sad to see you resign from being a mod. I think you've done a fantastic job since you started and have been the best mod so far. You've been very good at enforcing the rules, and preventing some threads from getting out of control.

It's a shame that WIX will be losing much of the structure you provided.

I hope you're still planning on participating in WIX chats. You bring a great knowledge to the board and you're one of the few that really does their research before posting.

Whether I make it down to Melbourne first, or you get up here any time soon, it looks like you're in for at least two beers in Canada! Sounds worth the trip, eh?

JDK- I've never had a problem with you! You've even given me a cautionary wave off once or twice for my own protection, and your concern was always appreciated...

I think you do a pretty decent job of moderating.

My only advice is, never get between two guys arguing(they'll eventually either get over it, or just run everyone else off the thread, at which point they are only arguing to themselves) and Never get between a man and his BEER. (But you're from Aus, I think you know that.)

Actually, funniest thing I ever read in Vietnam memoires, was regarding the appreciation shown us Yanks by your folk during the Vietnam War. One of the LURPS wrote how he went to Australia for his 2 week R&R, and went to a local bar. He saw the barstools were full, and had resigned himself to standing when one of the local mates pushed his wife off the stool next to him and said "One open here, Yank!" The LURP ambled over and took the seat(hardly nice to refuse such hospitality) and the man's wife got up, dusted herself off, and finished her drink nearby...

From stock like that, I'd say follow the other gent's advice- Take the dog out first, down a Foster's, and come back swinging.

Robbie

Come to think of it.

I wish I could sit down with Bill and James (together) and share a pitcher of beer together.

I respect both men very much and have learned a lot from both through WIX.

2 cents,

David

I'm really sorry to hear that JDK. I hope you stay involved and continue to post. One of the problems with internet forums is that cowards and bullies can use the inherent anonymity of this medium to hurl insults and push people around. Some people are only tough when they are hiding behind a bush, a large rock, or a computer screen. I wonder if some of these guys would be so brave slinging these insults in the local tavern, "mano e mano". I doubt it.

I still enjoy WIX and get a lot out of it but I've learned to completely ignore a few members. As a mod, I know you were not able to do that but as a regular civilian, maybe you can just sit back and enjoy WIX again?

I still owe you some good shots of the Sh-2 but the photos I took are terrible. We are moving everything out of that museum building to change all the light bulbs before the Waco Flyin so for the first time in two years, I'll be able to get some good shots with my new camera.

Best regards my friend.

JDK- I appreciate all the effort and time you have put in to helping out Scott. Says a lot about your character that you even tolerated things as long as you did.

Thank you for all your work and I'm sorry this ended this way. I think you were a good mod, and you rremain a good guy. I hate bill got banned I hate you have taken so much heat for it, I don't think it had as much to d with you as it did Bill's own target lock (we've all been there) and a crappy situation just got crappier.
You dinguses who kept jumping James every time he tried to maintain order just made things a little worse. :?

james, i think it's a smart move. you volunteered in good spirit, & i admire you for it. but nobody needs the flak that a mod gets from so many varying opinions. i do hope you will stay on as a wix member though, as your input on topics of aviation history are much appreciated by me. go have a fosters ale & chill out, you'll feel better. best, tom
