todays, lorain journal, lorain ohio. a 90 year old woman from a suburb of columbus ohio donated a ww 2 bring back souvenir that her husband brought home to a local museum, a live 18 inch artillery shell!!! the town police evacuated blocks of homes. makes you think of what's still out their as to ww 2 keepsakes from vets. my dad dissarmed a japanese rifle grenade & 2 knee mortar shells before he came home. i have them still. who would be so dumb to ship live ordinance home!! a simular event occurred a few months ago, a civil war collector was killed while fiddling with a live civil war cannon ball shell that he just bought.

Don't miss the dog in today's news in Germany who brought his master a WWII pineapple... Of course, I don't think that was meant as a souvineer... Time to change the kibble...

Uh, going by some of the posts here, 'most WIX members' would be the answer. :D

My grandfather - ex- Royal Australian Navy - had quite the collection of souvenirs, many traded with USN guys for booze. Cartridges were probably the largest 'go bang' things he had, but it was the rule, rather than the exception in '46.

JDK:

This is uncalled for. If most WIX members here are dumb, what the heck are you doing here then? Showing us? Teaching us how better you are? Why would you want to be in a group where "most" of its members, are dumb enough to.... this or that?

Even placing the smilie at the end, does not make your statement more acceptable.

It was just a joke.

Sorry if it didn't go over for you.

If it makes you feel less sensitive, I was including myself in the 'most'.

Not the first time, JDK that you and a few others express disdain for some of the people in this forum and yet, you continue to be a part of it.

You don't have to feel sorry that I didn't get the "humor" in your "most WIX members" comment in which now you belatedly include yourself.

WHOA DUDE! Mellow out some, get a blue drink with an umbrella and a pinapple slice, have a bikini wax, and relax-I got the joke right from the get go.

Don't the French still have a dedicated Army unit who's sole job is recovering 95 year old shells from WW1 battlefields?

I'm certainly prepared to put my hand up to having boobed on occasion. Not, I hasten to add with live ordinance...

As to the French, I think the Belgians and French have still got a lot coming up from farmland.

Meanwhile, in Florida, a fisherman (clearly not as sharp as all WIX posters):

JDK was above the average here- he endeavored to try to stay above the conflicts and help Scott. If he had an opinion, it was expressed respectfully, and if he offended anybody, he apologized. There are some turds here that could use some polish- that is all he tried to do, instead of flushing them out.

I used to like live ordnance, then they quit paying me to work with it.
