What airplane did I see flying today?

Well, I didn't see it flying from _outside,_ but it sure was flying.

The PV-2 Harpoon "Hot Stuff," which we've worked on for so long, returned to the air today, by golly it did, and all is well--only a couple minor squawks, all major systems working like champions, everything good. It was fine.

A more long-winded report coming in the Hot Stuff thread, with photos, probably tomorrow. Look for it, WIXers.

We're back.

Congratulations! Thanks for putting forth all the hard work to get her back in the air! It will be great to see the Harpoon in the air again.

Just heard N99FS, Don Brooks "Gooney Bird" take off from KPDK. It was here for our air show last weekend, & got some maintenance from our "Little Gary Austin", not be confused with our buddy "Big Gary Austin" in Texas. :?

Heck, I'm only 5'5", so if I'm "Big Gary Austin," that guy must be a stand in for the Seven Dwarfs. :-)

Those are cool little airplanes, aren't they? :-)

Gary

That was the first time I have seen one of these flying, very impressive. Below some pictures done by my friend H. Walther.

Is that one of the CAF at Midland still flying? I have seen it 2007 there in the hangar.

Hey what field is that at?

That is at Lachen-Speyerdorf (Germany), but the Rata flew today to Mannheim and will be based there for a while.

Probably not a good idea for me to get too deep into my opinion on this on a public forum, but I seriously doubt that the I-16 in Midland will ever fly again. After all, the museum there is "preserving" all of their assets...or so I'm told.

Whoaaaaa ! I'm in Vegas right now and was hearing a deep helo sound coming... Went to the window and saw a flight of two V-22 Ospreys flying a low approach to the airport !!!!

What a sound these two made.... 8)

Yesterday it was 2 C-17A in a steep climb out of Nellis AFB. Tuesday, 2 x KC-135R taking off from Phoenix Int'l and Monday, 2 x A-10s on final at Davis-Monthan in Tucson...

It's my week of US military hardware !
