The rumor mill is very active about this situation in the last couple days.

It appears that there is another incident(s) of a criminal nature that kicked off this whole situation.

If true, then that changes my feelings about this individual completely.

It will be interesting to see if the USAF counters his media blitz.

I haven't seen any counter statements by the USAF yet. All of my google searching could only turn up blogs, rants, message boards showing support.

Here's one for those who consider me two steps right of Ghengis Khan- I honestly don't care if someone is gay in the military. As long as they don't bother me, they do their job, and give honest effort, I just do not give a da**. Just as long as they don't ask me out! lol

The Military will never be a Democracy, but in this case, why not let those who serve decide, on who they serve with.

If he is gay, then he is gay whatever, doesn't bother me one way or the other. But if he is gay with another officer, then yes he needs to be discharged. After all that same rule applied to two Blue Angels. It should not make a difference if he is gay or not.

They were both officers. One of them was married.

As a side note, in Ferenbach's most recent interview with a Boise TV station, he indicated that he'd been 'outed' by a civilian...don't remember if he said if they worked on base or off.

Group,

Here is the real problem with Gays in the military, The military decides who I have as a roommate/tentmate. With females in the military, they have seperate rooms/tents (I have seen E-6's doubled up, so an E-3 female could have a room to herself).

So the answer to allowing Gays to serve in the military would be for each soldier to have their own room/shower facility. So if you are ready for more taxes to provide seperate rooms, then I am all for letting gays into the military.

The alternative would be to put all names based on rank into a hat and then draw roommates (male and female togeather). Would you stand for your daughter being assigned a male roomate in a one room dorm with bunkbeds? How about communal toilets/showers?

you're already living and showering with them. You just don't know it. Which is creepier?

How do you explain, then, militaries like the UK which do allow homosexual soldiers to serve, and do so in exactly the conditions you mention?

There has not been a mass breakdown of good order and discipline there...nor in any one of the other multiple militaries that also allow it AND have been serving in field conditions for many years just like we have.

So, no, that's not the 'real problem'.

Here goes the heterosexual arrogance of assuming you'd be 'of interest' to a gay person.

Linked to the old, and one would hope thoroughly discredited, cop-out used to prevent access by women to jobs 'we don't have the toilets'.
