P-63 Folks:

We are looking for P-63Es pictures at the National Air Races in Cleveland, Ohio c. 1947-1948. Particularly, Bell P-63s NX 69797 #4 and Bell NX 69702 #65.
We suspect, that at least one of them was exported to S. America c. 1948. Tks

It's the Society of Air Racing Historians website. (Incidentally SARH are having their annual conference soon in Cleveland)...

Hi,

Actually, the Society of Air Racing Historians is having our annual Symposium this weekend.

As far as P63 #4 which was raced by Steve Wittman, I seem to recall him saying that it crashed into a lake (not by him). When it was to be recovered, night was falling so whoever was recover it decided to wait for the next day. The next day, they could not find it in the lake.

Hi,

Here are pictures of each plane. They were taken by a friend of mine, Dave McIlvaine, that worked at the airport.

Kenn:

Tks for the link to National Air Races and the pics of P-63s #4/#65 respectively.

FAA list Bell NX69702, as a P-63E Vs. P-63A in your link. The air scoop of #65 appears to be a P-63E type. It also appears to be 2 P-63s with the Reg NX 69702?

Tks for your time and attention. These are great pictures indeed!
