This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Which version of the nose art is the correct one? The big type or small type version?

I'm not sure if the info is public yet, but I bet the Southern Cross airplane will be seen in the Atlanta area once the purchase and ferry are complete.

Palm springs has one that was used in the movie.
I believe this one has been bought by Rick Sharpe of the Houston area.
If that is correct, it has been renamed Guns for Hire

He bought NX24BP The blue one. Bob owned 2 and sold the blue one late last year. 44-35721 is still at the museum.

Depends on what movie you are talking about. Tanker #59 was in "Always" along with two other A26's . This was Denny Lynch's 1st A26 purchased in 1966, at one time he owned about 15 of them.
Here is a link to the one that Rick Sharpe owns and it was purchased in Palm Springs

Our ship (#59) made it home to GA04 May12,2009 with Al Maxwell flying left seat with no problems. Al maintains and flys Rick Sharpe's aircraft. Al Maxwell, John Cater and myself spent 5 days the previous week changing out the #2 engine.

I think that the nose art is correct in all sizes. THat was sort of the squadron emblem on all of the aircraft in always. Even the PBY had it. I would really love to see someon keep this paint scheme. It tells of an important part of the A-26 story , and is part of the reason why we have a good bit of them still flying.

You guys need to get a hold of Dale Hunt, the last I heard he is flying a P-2V for Neptune, He worked for Denny for many years and flew #59 among others. He has some great stories of fire fighting in the A-26.
