CF et al--
In recognition of the VE Day anniversary impending, I've pulled out 1:72 Tempest V and Heinkel 162 kits which will be my next projects. A P-63 in racer colours will hopefully follow if I can locate suitable decals. 99% complete right now is my long-planned "Project Walt" 1:72 diorama of a section of the front of Walt Soplata's famous yard as it was in the early eighties. Will be posting a link to pix of this as soon as I can...

Steve, that ought to be an intresting diarama.
Ollie, you sound pretty busy, how big of a space do you have to work on models?

Corsairfreak,
I got tired of waiting on Hobbycraft's supposed release (sent them a bunck of info) and modified a standard model. Unfortunately, I started with a F4U-5 and had a whole lotta rework for #94. No pictures yet. For F2G #74 I started with a FG-1 and had less rework. I just used the kit cockpit and reworked the kit engine on them to turn down the od and make the cowl longer.
Here is a picture of #74 in the 1947 scheme
Steve,
Have you tried Keith at Red Pegasus decals (
redpegasusdecals@aol.com)
or Joel at
RacePlaneDecals@aol.com ?
Keith has a website. I don't think that Joel has.
Corsairfreak,
I believe both Keith and Joel have several decal sets of some of the racing Corsairs available.

Hello Corsairfreak.
My bench is not that big, I simply stack the kits in theit boxes and pull out the one I'll be working on when I need it!

Ahh tricky. I like to spread my parts out for some reason.

Right now the B-25 is receiving it's Future coat and the Spit is almost ready for the "close the fuse" ops.

I just put the finishing touches on a 1/48 Monogram razorback P-47D.
Right now, a 1/48 Heller AU-1 Corsair has been occupying my time. I've got the cockpit detailed and the fuselage fused to the wings. I've spent the last 2 days just filling and sanding. I think there's more putty than plastic in that kit. Truly a horrid kit, and a highly inaccurate AU-1, but great practice for someone who hasn't built a kit in 10 years........back when all I knew was a tube of testors glue and a rattle can of paint.

Right now I am working on a 1/48 razorback P-47. I am working on decaling it right now. It will be in the markings of "My Gal Sal" of the 378th FS, 362nd FG, 1943, flown by Lt. Joe Hodges.

I'm finishing up the Monogram 1/48 scale P-38J Lightning and I'm discovering why all the pics on the box show the canopy being open....the side windows don't fit!! Gotta find some plastic and do them myself...other than that it came out alright, but gonna try the Hasegawa version next and see how that goes...
In the wings...a FW 190, a P-47 and a Zero, all 1/48 scale...and maybe a few more Corsairs of various types (have 7 from 1/100 scale up to the 'big toy' in 1/18 scale...)
