Trying to get this one finished for next Tuesday night's club meeting. The theme is anything having to do with "09." I'm building a 1/72 Tamiya Mosquito B.IV of 109 Squadron. The kit actually comes with the markings I want, so I'm using the kit decals.
The cockpit is OOB, with some Airwaves PE seatbelts I had laying around.
The bombay doors are a separate insert (because their different on the fighter version, but the kits share the same fuselage) but there's no bombay. I wanted to open up the doors, so a bit of scratchbuilding was necessary. It looks fine with the bombs in place.
Got the basic painting (Gunze acrylics) done a couple days ago..love that black belly scheme! I didn't have any RAF Ocean Gray handy, so I used USAF Gunship Gray. I expect the Color Police will soon be busting down my door and hauling me off. The nice thing about the Tamiya kit is that the fit is so good, the wings, fuselage, and tailplanes can be completely finished separately, and joined at the end.
I've now got all the stickers on. The Tamiya decals are a bit thick, but settled down OK with some Solvaset. I'm letting everything cure out good, and plan to dullcoat it and do final assembly this weekend.
Cheers!
