Pacific Theater Location? (Puerto Rico)

Wed May 06, 2009 12:56 pm

Would the formally closed NAS Roosevelt Roads in Puerto Rico be a viable location to film a Pacific Theater movie? Im talking about recreating and modifying this existing field into an American or Japanese field. I was sort of inspired by Lucas' train of authenticity with his recent project, so I thought it'd be cool to imagine the Pacific version.

Good question. Lets see if we can get Spielberg and Hanks to put together one on VF-17 or a VMF unit in the Solomons. A Good movie from Cactus would be great too.

The nearby island of Vieques was used to film beach landing scenes for "Away All Boats". Until just a couple of years ago one of the beaches in the old bombing range had a Sherman tank rotting away.

I would like to see a remake of "Black Sheep Squadron" myself...
