Hey Jack,Nice pic.Any idea what the birds name was during any combat before transport duties and also what happened to Kenny after the war,Did he get a fourth star?

Kenney scored 2 kills in WWI and retired has a 4 star general

He also commanded SAC before LeMay.

I can't find an earlier nickname for her, but that doesn't mean there wasn't one.

There are some photos of her in formation with the 19th BG and painted in olive drab in the January, 1943 issue of National Geographic.

That's a wonderful photo, and I always like to see credit given to the man who took it - war correspondent Howell Walker.

It was taken on July 4, 1942 on the way to attack the Japanese airstrip at Lae.

The mission was led by Captain Felix Hardison in Tojo's Physic and that's Lt Richard Smith flying 41-2633.
