Hmmmm, grease pencil or lipstick, does that depend on being Air Force or Marines?!?! Sounds like fightin' words!!! I'm not even going to guess who uses what!!!

Im doing a A-37B Dragonfly in next few months and maybe later this year a Lao painted or SVN painted T-28 if all plans go well.

O-2 Birdog might happen this or next year too.

I have a few airshows to attend later this year in Australia so we will see what else gets renacted too.

I may have a P-47 Thunderbolt too in next year or so.

Is that what would happen if an O-1 and a Skymaster shacked up for the night? Just kidding.

FH, more power to you! I've got a few mates who are into re-enacting but they're strictly army. At a Christmas parade a couple of years back three of us, one representing each service, were driven around in an open jeep, and that was great!

I was only in a lent uniform, but I'd love to get my own. Similarly, the same group of us often went for Sunday lunch at a local museum in the aforementioned jeep, and once we did so in full uniform. Said museum has a Hurricane on static display outside and, seeing as it was a beautiful sunny day and I was in RAF blues, I went and lay underneath. Could've been 1940, a 20-yr-old in RAF uniform underneath a Hurri

One thing I love is that several WW1 pilots in NZ wear period costume whilst flying at shows, it looks fantastic to see them preflighting when in full garb.

True, there is the argument that re-enactors haven't "earnt the right" per se to wear whatever rank etc, but the same goes for actors in films. I'd been skeptical of re-enacting and "living history" displays, but the "German unit" at Omaka during Classic Fighters this year was amazing.

And good on you for drawing attention to the FACs! Absolutely love FAC, and its great to see someone representing them at shows. Looking forward to more pics of you with various aircraft.

Thats the problem youse Kiwis are way ahead of Australia.

In my opnion the NZ mob, has better interactive airshows/wargames - this is what draws massive tourists to NZ 4 times a year or so?

In Australia we hardly have anything to match this. Airshow and wargames level.
Organsing these things just doesnt attract the idea that it could bring more money to local economies if people got behind the ideas.
It may happen in future more as im seeing more signs of groups getting together to do this stuff.

Alot of people are telling me the FAC outfit is just the thing.... i guess it does give them a bit of overdue coverage now at airshows.
Hopefully it will be seen more in future and if i can get some other things tied down some other surprises may happen to.

The idea of displaying as you say can be a bit "hmmm factor" when in air force gear but doesnt seem to get that if your in army gear......

Us devoted volunteers just need to keep hacking away and gettting the message out to airshows and public.

If it works so well overseas and in NZ too it bound to work in Australia long term .. i have the collection, rare items and passion.
Just need the right planes and time to make it work well.
