A-26 N202R "Miss Murphy"

I have noted recently photos of this a/c at Mesa, AZ, possibly in the care of the local CAF group. It used to be owned by a guy named Rod Huskey of Grand Junction, CO who reportedly is in his 80s, if alive today. I think he used to be somewhat involved with the CAF. Has the plane been sold or is it on loan? Even more interesting, is it still flyable?

Last I saw it was, it was at a show in AZ back in 97 or 98 when I went there....can't speak to whether or not it still flies or he still owns it tho....I have never heard DIFFERENT however...

Looks like either Huskey sold it or he loaned it to the CAF or some sort of arrangement....but she sure still LOOKS airworthy...

As far as I know Rod & Linda Huskey still are the owners! 202R had been a test bed for Texas Instruments for like 12 years, prior to Huskey's.

In Oct. 1989 I flew 202R to Jerome, Idaho from Grand Jct. for major re-work and flew again 28 Aug. 1992. We put about 70 hours on her until delivering to the AZ wings hangar for display on 20 Nov.1993. She flew several times after, blowing a engine on its way to meet the B-29 in Casper summer of 1994, sat their until engine change late summer 1995, flown back to AZ and to my knowledge has sat on display ever since. My good friend Ross Parton hand painted the nose art, "Miss Murphy" was a pet name that Linda Huskey's uncle called her when she was a young girl and with a tasteful Varga Girl came the nose art. I miss flying her, she was a good airplane.

Thanks for the info John. Does it still have an executive interior or is it stripped out? Huskey also has another A-26 sitting in a storage yard off- field in Grand Junction, have you ever heard of that one. It is for all intents and purposes a derelict but I wondered if he keeps it as a spare package or for a possible restoration?

Speaking of A-26's, back in the mid-90's a gloss black A-26 cracked a wing spar avoiding a midair at the CAF Southern MN event. (A follow-the leader train got stretched out; you could hear the crack as the pilot pulled up.)

The pilot was a woman who had the a/c set up as a flying RV. (She was flying it around the world IIRC.) Obviously she got sidetracked at that event. The plane was on the ground at Fleming for a long time, then we moved away.

Anyone know what happened to it?

If the comments in one of the videos are true Calvin Burgess sold the a/c a month ago. Flight Tracker confirms the claim it has been flown from Van Nuys to Mineral Wells, TX.
