Since people seem to think that the off-topic section is for political discussion, something that is frowned upon, I have temporarily closed the section. ANY political discussions in any other forum will be deleted and the user suspended. I have had it with the politically motivated comments.

There was not even anyone important on the plane and if the terrorists wanted to take it out, or the white house out., it would have already happened.

What century are you living in?

I think my post was rational and to the point. Your personal attacks as an answer on the other hand are out of line. The public has no right to know the flight schedule of the president's aircraft whether he's on it or not. Nothing in your post is insightful or helpful.

Does the government have the right to frighten the hell out of it's citizens due to their lack of overall sensibilities?

Nice government.

There is no reason they could not have come up with a 'cover' story. Like.., 'hey NY.., issue a statement that there will be low flying aircraft over downtown in the morning. It is all planned and safe. Thanks.., love, The Whitehouse"

See.., how was that?

Or better yet - "We are going to have a low flying large jet fly in over the city in order to test certain system reaction times to any threats in order to better protect the city. Do not be surprised to see a large aircraft and some fighter airplanes. We think the previous administration left a few holes..."

They could've made political hay out of it!

I think you're being over dramatic and irrational about the whole thing. Say it was a privately owned warbird that got clearance from the FAA to do low level scenic photo shoot. Still the same problem? The clearance was there. I think people are being played for fools here by coordinated media and politicial mouthpieces. Just my 2 cents.

Hhhhhhhmmmm...

FAA knew it could cause panic, demanded secrecy anyway

Also heard that they are now calling it a training mission instead of a photo-op.

Not at all.., actually quite pleased to occasionally witness a warbird screaming up the Hudson. Happens all the time.

But a GIANT 747 at 1,000 feet AGL with no warning.

No excuse and just plain stupid. IMO :x

Again, I recognized the paint job.., but most people can not tell a 747 from a Chrysler Sebring. They just heard and saw an airliner flying down the Hudson towards Manhattan with fighters behind it.

Again, they could have faked a cover story. No reason this 'mission' needed to be TOP SECRET with POTUS absent.
