Great, thanks for the photos and the links, Marcus. Lovely story about the Harveys.
As for the drop tank, it's to make up for the fact that this P-40 has an aft cockpit, and thus no fuselage fuel tank. In Canada the distances are great and the airports are few. More range was required.

The Australian story is a good one, and we're proud to be associated with it, but we have our own perspective.
Of course their stories are every bit as remarkable as any of ours, but we wanted to tell a Canadian story.
Stocky Edwards is still alive, still hale -- I was talking to him the other day. We wanted to commemorate his magnificent accomplishment -- with him there in person!
To shoot down 13 in the North African campaign, always from a position of disadvantage, with no gunnery training, as a kid just turned 20, against 109Fs, was stunning. He didn't get much Press, because the press didn't get to the front lines much in that campaign (particularly before El Alamein). But he was a magnificent fighter pilot, and he's still with us.
Time is precious for that generation. We didn't want to lose the chance.

Thanks for the info! Like I say, she's really gorgeous..I've always thought the desert scheme was the most attractive ever put on a P-40. Yeah, I know it's wrong for a P-40N, but unfortunately there aren't that many P-40B/Cs out there. Can't wait to see her at Thunder!

Wow, what a beauty! Congratulations to all.......... The P-40 is amongst my favorite fighters....... well....actually they are all of my favorites....... but the P-40 does hold a special aura that at times becomes "indescribable". So, Dave what is "it" we have not seen? Also, I have a question for you.... Is there another P-40 at Pioneer being restored for which we can have a Pavlovian type response? I am asking because I really do not know... but I do admire their work!!!!!! Alan Brooks
