I too am a member coming up on 20 years (yeah yeah just a pup  ) and supported one CAF aircraft for many years as the sole flying (AND paying) sponsor. Also have supported another CAF one thru sponsorship and other dollars here and there while it is in restoration. But I still think the decals are awful in their size and placement. The same thing could be accomplished in a less garish manner.

Yeah, but less "garish" wouldn't have people talking about the CAF! At least now people are talking about the CAF and learning about the CAF. As much as I hate to admit it, the positive (as seen in numbers) is outweighing the negative.

Hopefully in a few years we can shrink and relocate the decals to a nice size and location (like back under the horizontal!).

Personally I love the branding idea. I’m sick and tired of going to air shows and having to explain who and what the CAF is. We might be the biggest and we are certainly the oldest but we seem to still be one of the best kept secrets on the circuit. If branding gives us the recognition we deserve I am all for it. It takes more than just a pile of money and a ton of hard work to keep these planes in the air. It takes love and dedication. I doubt very seriously that branding will cost us any money or support. Our mission is job number one. I can’t believe that somebody would be so petty as to not support us because of a logo. You might not like it but you have got to see the “big picture.”

Let's see, that must be the 1,034,567th time that's been brought up...
Let's not get into stuff that will bring out the sectional differences over again. It'd be easy enough for some of us to jump in and argue it ALL over again...

I, for one, would never say that I would not support because of the decals. However even though I see the picture, I will stand by my negative opinion of them in their present configuration and placement on the aircraft.

I'm a bald headed fat guy and I'm sure my wife doesn't like it but she supports me.

By the way we have had Commemorative Air Force under the tails of our planes for years so less suttle has been tried before.

I guess then don't go
This reminds me of Obers earlier thread.
Has for the CAF, people know of the Confederate Air Force but who the heck are those Commerative guys???
Here's my post from Obers thread................
Repeated at nearly every airshow/fly-in we took the B-25 to......
Local Yokel " "You guys are a long way from home!"
Jack "Sir?"
Local Yokel " Texas is a long way from here!"
Jack "We're from Salem"
Local Yokel "I thought the Confederate Air Force was in Texas?"
Jack "It is"
Local Yokel "But you said you're not from Texas!"
Jack "We're from Salem"
Local Yokel "But the Confederates run all these here old bombers!"
Jack "They have a lot but not all of them."
Local Yokel "But you're no Air Force!"
Jack "You gotta start somewhere"
Local "Is that legal?"
Jack "I suppose"
Local Yokel "Do those Confederate boys know about this?"
Jack "Well, I'm not sure"
Local Yokel walks away while glancing at bomber while scratching chin.
Jack climbs up on wing and hides

I actually think that the design of the wings is very nice, and attractive, just wish that they were smaller is all. Just like I say about the Collings Foundation aircraft, while I wish that the names were not on there, if that is what it takes to keep it flying, then so be it. While you all know that I am a fan of both static and flying museums, I d don't want to see current flying warbirds parked for any reason including lack of funds.

Dan, does she show a willingness to get a tattoo or at least a t-shirt with the "fat, bald guy" brand logo?
