Planes of Fame at Chino, CA always has something new waiting for those that make the journey to see. Here are a few photos of a Grumman Bearcat NX747NF.

It has been their for many years.
It was amazing the condition it was in back then and the work done to get to where it is today.
It's good to see it ready to fly.
Congratulations to the FR crew.

Hopefully it will be ready for the show in a month?

Nice Pics. I had never noticed that solid rubber tailwheel before. Guess that meant that you had better put your weight on the mains! Gotta be a little rough on some runways...every bump and joint! :shock:

Solid rubber is for CV OPS. Pneumatic is for land OPS.

Didn't know Chino had a carrier! (Makes sense though, carrier deck, smoother, less bounce!)

Just a point of note;

The solid tailwheel on the Bear can jar your teeth out taxiing on a rough surface but you NEVER want to put too much weight on the mains in this airplane. Doing that can get REAL expensive!!
All takeoffs and landings in the Bear are tail low. Some owners like 3 point.
The issue is the prop clearance. You just don't have it!
Just FWIW, it would be a toss up anyway on takeoff in the Bear, as to whether you could get the tail up before the airplane rotates :-))) It's hard enough to go to takeoff power and reach it before the airplane leaves the ground :-))

Just curious does anyone know if it will receive any particular squadron markings like the winged tiger or the bull that I've seen in some books ?
Thanks, Mike

Still needs a big and tasteless piece of nose art... Maybe a cuddly Teddy Bear or a Thai girl draped in a Thai flag?
