Is it true that DC3s can't carry paying passengers in the USA now ? Do they still do cargo ?

I'm not talking about warbird rides

I'm not sure if they're still using them, but up until recently Stinson L-5s were still in use in Italy as glider tugs.

Yes, there are two in Long Beach, California USA that do daily flights to Catalina Island.

Quote:
The Catalina operation moves approximately 5 million pounds of freight per year and consists of UPS, US Mail, FedEx, DHL, FedEx Ground and general freight.

Catalinaflyingboats have some nice looking airplanes. Is Mustang Sally for the small packages that have to be there really quick?

Would that make it a working warbird?

Went to the catalinaflyingboats site looking for a Catalina flying Boat. All I found were some boats that flew to Catalina.

Buffalo Airways still does the daily sked passenger flight from Yellowknife to Hay River in the DC-3. They also do a daily cargo flight in one of their two C-46s. Haven't seen any DC-4 action in Yellowknife for the past year or so, apparently they will be phased out by 2010 with the 2 Electra's replacing them.

Pacific Coastal still operates 4 Grumman Goose planes along the coast of British Columbia as well.
