looks like a former East-German AF one. And it seems someone cut or tried to cut the wings and elevators :?

Yup, yup she is at least marked as a GDR MiG-23.

Let me know if I am wrong but this idea seems doubtful as the aircraft is in GDR markings and only appeared 2-3 months ago, at best 11 years after the program ended. Also a couple of heavily damaged F-4s presumably removed from the Eglin ranges have been seen at the same scrap yard, and at least one former GDR MiG-23 met its end on the Eglin Range. Have had no luck contacting the facility, not even via county tax records.

Any other ideas Gents?

Gary

Depends on which "program" you are talking about.

Wonder what the going rate is on scrap metal. I could always use another warbird in my back yard projects list.

Gary,
It is indeed a former German MiG-23ML, serial 20+24 and before that East German 471. It was preserved at Tyndall with the 53rd WEG (hence the bort numer) from around Oct94 until being sold off from there by the DRMO in Feb09.
Where is it now exactly?
Regards,
Andy Marden
