I'd like to repeat that the crew at Tillamook did a great job of opening it up for display. The rivets on Fuselage skins on the rear were drilled off, nothing was cut so the stairwell cut be put in and the control cables were disconnected at the turnbuckles. I know it will probably never fly again but it was good to see that it was still dissassembled with a considerable amount of intelligence. Great job Tilly!!!! How about Army Air Corp tomorrow. After that we'll do Korean War stuff. Appreciate the comments too.

Yep. Three Oscars. I think the mannequin was afraid he'd fall out. The cockpit is about ten feet off the ground. We had a 11 year old tour guide for the Museum of Flight resto center. His name was Jordan and he did a great job. When he took us through the Dehavilland Comet, we were standing in the Galley. He informed us that this is where the flight attendants (ney stewardesses) used to make the espresso for the crew. Those guys do a great job there with very little cash to work with in very tight spaces.

Perhaps they decided that was approximately the normal position for a Cutlass pilot.

I've never seen a P-38 with the speed (dive?) brake deployed

When did the FHC P-47 get markings? Wasn't it factory fresh last year or am I thinking of another Jug?

When were you at FHC? I didn't see you , but I'm not there on Wed. or Sat. The 47 was painted before it flew to Paine. The nose art was finshed just before the the opening last June.

Okay y'all, help a southerner who hasn't been to the northwest on over 30 years.
Some are from Evergreen, some are from the Museum of Flight and some are from Tillamook. Am I missing a location? And what is FHC? And where is the dungeon?

FHC= Flying Heritage Collection; Paul Allen's collection at Paine Field
Dungeon= latest addition to The Museum of Flight, Seattle. So called because it's as dark as one...

I was at FHC on Saturday the 14th. I spoke with Roger Hagen while I was there. I know him from the Champlin Museum when it was still in Az. Good call Cosmo. FHC is Paul Allens collection at Paine Field in Everett Wa. Terrific collection and almost all are flown which is even better. Tillamook, FHC, Museum of Flight, Evergreen and Museum of Flight restoration center and Olympic. Brian Reynolds Mustang was out for annual so we didn't get to see that. In regard to the Russian planes, they seem to be easier to get ahold of at least for static displays than US birds. Sorry I didn't elaborate on each picture but I have over 400 in no particular order when I downloaded them onto photobucket. OKay, tomorrow is Korea and Vietnam stuff. I know some of the types (P-51, Corsair, A-26,) etc flew in Korea and or Vietnam but I put them in WWII so don't beat me up on those. I'm just the messenger here. Oh yeah-the dungeon was a term The Inspector used when describing the way the ex-Champlin fighters are displayed at the Museum of Flight. It's very dark inside and with all the stuff around the planes it's very difficult to really get good pics. My photgrapher buddy Troy was rather miffed but at least we got to see our old birds from Mesa.
