This reminds me of the USS Hornet that we had in LSFM before hurricane IKE. We did find a few SBD's that were stored in the hangar deck. The Hornet was about the same size scale.

I was the one who found her in all of the debris and carnage inside the Texas Aviation Hall of Fame...It wasnt pretty! But for the most part she stayed intact.

I always have a tough time shooting it because of the glare from the case.
Loads of detail packed in there.

Thats really one heck of a model! I couldnt even believe just how many man hours went into that!

Heck of a lot of manhours ... plus one in-scale white Porche 911.

Seriously. If you look into the forward starboard hangar/elevator opening a scale representation of the builder's Porche is sitting just inside to the left.

Kinda neat to point it out when there is a crowd around and see everyones' reactions. Especially since, unlike all the goodies built into the Close Encounters mothership on display at Udvar-Hazy, there's no mention of the car on any of the display placards.
