Looking a bit like Gen Lyon's B-25J at Orange County

I am pretty sure that's General Lyon's B-25 -- and what a polishing job!

Now, from the looks of it... and the looks of that interesting hangar it's in front of, could that be the new permanent Lyon Air Museum at SNA? Anyone know for sure?

Yes, but it isn't officially open yet to the best of my knowledge.

I'm sure you guys recognize the serial - I admit I'm lazy and not looking it up at the moment - but the non-standard astrodome looks like the type some of the Tallmantz camera ships had. Any connection?

Fan-freaking-tastic polishing job!

I've got a Beech-18 at my museum that could use a visit from those guys!

Cheers,

David

Beautiful!

That's the only B-25 I've ever had the privelage of flying in. I got a hop back in 1990 when Glen Lamont was barnstorming around her the midwest after a 15 year restoration. She didn't have the astrodome or the fixed .50s in the nose, though. To bad the "Guardian of Freedom" now art has been stripped.

Ironically I got my ride here in Battle Creek. The plane sat on the very same ramp rotting for 14 years before Col. Lamont bought her in 1975. There used to be a large aerial photo of the aiport in the terminal building..you could make out the B-25 on the ouskirts of the ramp, and B-57s at the Air Guard base on the other side of the field.

Wow... wish I could assemble a volunteer crew like that to polish on my 170!
