NAA F-100 Super Sabre goes to sea with USN....nearly

In a what was nearly a sure thing in 1952-54 period the USN had NAA develop a carrier version of the F-100A Super Sabre.

The navalised SS would of had dual main wheels, a triangle shaped arrestor hook, a different extended nose intake , 1 less M39 gun, folding wing tips and other features to operate from a carrier.

It came close to a mock up and flying stage.

I feel im glad it never happened as i feel early models would like USAF ones killed many aviators on the ramp, let alone if they failed a hard burner light on the cat...

It was to be called a Super Fury or something...
