I spent a lot of time with Dick Sykes over the last few years (before he died). Dick flew most of the WWII fighters and he said the P-63 was one of the best fighters however it didn't carry enough fuel internally thus you needed drop tanks and that really killed the performance. He would always tell me how he could (in a P-63) wax just about anyone.

Ok, so one of my stops last week on the way to WSC in Midland, was to go to my favorite "One Stop, Warbird Shop". Yep, you know, that little ol' shop in Texas...... the Ezell's. Gracious as always, Nelson and family take the time to show you around and answer any questions you may have.... Of course, I always have lots of those...especially with our B-29 stuff in the shop.... However, we are not the only CAF bird represented in the shop. The P-63F is getting some attention from the staff and I shot a few pics too....... In addition, there are a few pics from the Ezell's website http://www.ezellaviation.com/page37.html. One half of the page is the B-29 nacelle and the other half, P-63F.

On one of my previous trips out to BKD, Steve Dickey made it a point to show me something very interesting on this 'Cobra. This airframe is a partial time capsule...... Steve had shown me several areas on the inside of the airframe (mainly fuselage and wings) where the original factory stamps are clearly visible........

Steve thought that this was really cool and I agree..... So I will try to keep updates going on the P-63F as I get opportunities to visit the shop!
Thanks to the Ezell's! Alan
