Here are some pics of Flak Bait I snapped last Friday.

It will be interesting to see how they repair the damage to the paint where all the visitors have touched it when the plane is assembled at U-H... :roll:

I remember walking up to that airplane and realizing just how tiny the B-26 is.

I believe they were decoy missions to draw the fighters away from the main force, i.e. target.
I could be wrong :?:

i had a b-26 control wheel, sold it to a guy in france, he gave it as a gift. his father inlaw flew marauders in french markings via free french forces. while i'm glad the the relic went to a good home, i sure do miss it.

As I was taking pictures of the worn areas my girlfriend told me to stop freaking out... I said that I was restraining myself the best I could. :lol: It looks like the portion near the nose and the section at the rear are the most noticable.

I did reach my camera around the barrier for some of the shots.

I made it a point to get a shot with some little fingers in it. We can only hope that the kid will become a warbird fan from it.

I understand the whole "hands on" history thing... but it is such a shame to see all that original paint worn away for want of a few feet of plexi glass... :?

Atleast the worn portion near the nose is covered now.

I think the window into the interior is an amazing exhibit all by itself.

Here's a pic I shot last summer. The two teens and their dad were all rubbing their hands all over the mission markers. :x I was seething by the time I left the museum..people were grabbing, banging on, or trying to move every aircraft part within reach.

Boy, that picture is gonna piss me off for the rest of the day....

Maybe $20-$30 of all that stimulus money can be diverted from the corrupt banks to get a piece of plexiglass to protect the darn thing...
