Does anybody have any photos of B-17 that had tail section from another B-17? I think it had a bare-metal tail section while the rest was olive drab. I remember seeing a picture of a scale model someone had posted on WIX but haven't been able to locate it.

Thanks

You're probably thinking of "Little Miss Mischief" of the 324th BS, 91st BG.

There's an enormous amount of information and pictures of her out on the internet, just go to images.google.com and search on "miss mischief" + "b-17"

In the meantime, Hyperscale has a pretty good buildup ...

Here is the ancient Microscale side view for Little Miss Mischief:

She was far from the only Fort to be built up from salvaged parts, "Half and Half" was another that comes to mind, but I can't remember the Group she was from. I think she was OD forward with NMF aft fuselage and OD vertical fin.

Wow.., what a cool model!!

What is the name of the shiny aluminum finish paint? Duralum, alumax? AlClad?

I had some, but while I was shaking it to use (this was years ago) the glass jar it came in had a metal bead inside and as I was shaking it the bead broke through the glass and paint went everywhere., including my eyes.., that was a fun time!
