Hello all, with my apologies to all........ between work, family, and trying to get to work on "Ol' 927", well I have fallen short in my duties of keeping everyone updated...... I will due my best to get that done tomorrow... I was out Thursday morning to work on '927 (after I had worked my last 12 hour shift for the week) and spent most of the day with Dave and Shorty..... so that is where I will pick up......... tomorrow.... Thanks to everyone who keeps asking... Lot of work accomplished this week.... Alan
But, how about a little hangar flying?

Well, she was ready and today we finished all the emergency landing gear extension stuff (free fall drill) and she was put on terra firma! Our emergency landing gear extention stuff, was mostly a F/E training review for those that may have questions!!
I'll post acouple of pics in the morning.

just a couple of quick pics I took yesterday at the CFM hangar.

This is Tom and his grandson, removing the nose jack pads. Theres one on each side and they are bolted into the sides of the fuselage.

Mike's here fighting with the #3 preoil pump. He'll win, I assure you!!

sorry for the poor quality pics??

Dave

Don's up on the tail, securing panels that were removed for inspection. I'm sure glad he's not afraid of heights!!

Great work, everybody!

Is 927 gonna be at Thunder Over Michigan this year? I still have yet to see her since her big makeover. Last time I saw her was at Thunder '05, when she was still known as Diamond Lil.

I don't think they're going anywhere more than 500 miles from Addison.

Chad, Toni was trying very diligently to get Indy to work out, but the last news that I had received, was that we were not going.....
Ok, just to change the direction just a little, I owe everyone an apology and an update of sorts. Family, work, well you know the drill...... So nothing earth shattering, but just wanting to add some photos to all the comments by Dave, Don, and Mike. I will kind of try to put a sequence to the pics........ That gear strut/wheel combo is rather large for a 1941 vintage bird.

Repairs in progress with Rick Garvis on the left and Jon Brawner on the right.

Next is a sequence with "Shorty" DeWitt (cap) and Dave Miller completing repairs and reinstalling the nose wheel.

When people ask you if the history of WWII continues to cross all lines and boundaries, I think this photo will answer that question....

So "Ol' 927" is on her gear and our squawk list is down to the last few items... We have a squadron meeting tonight (Wed, March 18th) and I will shoot a few more pics........ One of the guys that is driving force behind our DFW maintenance team is Mike Dillon. He and Brian Heeg have put in a great deal of time on "Ol' 927"..... Also special thanks to Tom, Jon, Mike, Bill, Jake, John Flynn, and Sam Stewart. Also to Rick Garvis, Dave, Don, Liz, and "Shorty"..... we could not have got it done! Lastly a big thanks to CFM. Doug, Steve, Daniel, Julian, and the rest of their team, you guys ROCK! ................ Mike Dillon (shown below) mugging for the camera..... I didn't know he could smile
