I cannot tell you the engine type. But the COAN (Comando de la Aviacion Naval) operated a large number of T-28s and Fennecs.

The guy behind the website, Mr. Jorge Nunez Padin, is the publisher of a series of books on different types of aircraft operated in Argentina and Chile; great photos, great historical and technical data.

I have at home the book T-28 / Fennec by Jorge Nunez, but I won't be able to get any details for the time being.

"The Argentinean Naval Aviation acquired 65 examples of the Fennec, surplus to the needs of the Armee de l'Air, with the goal of equipping the Naval Aviation School and the 2nd Aeronaval Squadron for General Purposes, concentrating mainly on advanced training, and the same aircraft would later equip the 1a Aeronaval Attack Squadron. Later on, a group of Fennecs were "navalized," this meant a modification developed in country, including an arresting hook in order to operate from the aircraft carrier ARA 25 de Mayo; the aircraft were designated as T-28P, and were based at BAN Comandante Espora.

Three were donated to the Uruguayan Navy, and upon retirement from service, I believe that one example will go back (or already did) to the Argentinean Navy Museum.

This aircraft is the former T28A 51-7606 which became Fennec # 136 and later T28P 3-A-309 in Argentina

The original 3-A-332 has been cannibalized (look at the LH cowl) to restaure the 3-A-333 as shown on those 2 pictures taken in 1999

May I add that the markings 3-A-331 to 333 have been used on aircrafts when they were removed from operations and given to the ESMA (mechanics training school) for didactic purpose.

It is therefore doubtful that anyone has ever been flown with these markings and the choice for the N9103F painting goes against history, using the 3-A-309 this plane has really worn would have been a better choice.

As a matter of fact, she is the last aircraft I had on overhaul before storage in Villacoublay, 1h05 recorded on my flight log on Jan.11,1965 for the test flight.

Hello there,

Thanks to the deep work done by Jorge Nuñez Padin, the 65 T28A, modified as "Fennec" by the French air force and later used by Argentina have been fully identified, including the ones which were equipped with a tail hook (Local design, not T28C)
