Here are my unedited shots of the outdoor collection of the USAF Armament Museum just outside of Eglin AFB.

Tex-Fan - you don't need an I.D. to get to the museum as it is not on the base. This museum is well worth the visit IMO!

Inside they have an F-105D, P-47, and P-51 plus a neat gun vault.

The helo is new since I was there last time. Thanks for the pics herk!

Is the RF-4C and T-29/C-131 (can't remember which is was) still there at the museum?

viking73 is correct about not needing an ID, while not located within the gated and developed area of Eglin it is located on the Eglin range just off of 85. If you need more info on the museum I will be happy to send your way.

I have photographs of the machines inside as well, however the lighting and spacing is horrible. I believe I have previously posted them if any one is interested in more shots of these machines let me know.

The helo flew to the museum on 5 Sep 08 as the 20 SOS was giving up thier last few birds, end of a fantastic era. Much respect to the men of the 20 SOS.

The T-29 is being restored (since Feb) at a location off base, have not had time to hunt for her but will.

67-0452 is still at the museum, looking great with a new and unfinished paint job, much like the 1st Lady. I missed the photograph when uploading, will follow.

New paint, unfinished as of yet. Gents, I noticed for the first time none of the info typed in the photo title's appears in this format, if you would like tail numbers and airframe info I will be happy to send all I have.

Yes, the indoor lighting is terrible for photos so I feel your pain hercules...

Did you go over to Hurlburt and snap any shots of the birds there? Now those you have to have an I.D. to see since they are inside the gate...

I have some photos from there taken a few years back that I can post if anyone is interested.

Armament Museum, Hurlburt, NMNA and the USS Alabama all in a row.

I want to go there again just to see the MOAB up close.

I would like to see some Hurlburt pics. Especially since I cannot get in there any more.

This MiG, by the way, is reportedly one of the airplanes that flew at Groom Lake and Tonopah as one of the 4477th TES "Red Eagles" as part of a program called CONSTANT PEG. Very interesting story of that program in and of itself.

The story goes that the airplane showed up at the museum on a truck one day out of the blue. When the curator started to ask where it had come from, he was told to not ask any more questions!

Nice photos of the planes at the armament museum. It looks like they have removed the nose art from the left side of Boeing's heavy bomber of WW2 since the last time I was there. Is there still talk of expanding the museum to bring additional planes inside?

I was a Hurlburt about a year ago, and we stopped in. Neither of us had base I.D., I just had I.D. for Wright Pat. We stopped in the the security building and politely asked if we could take pictures of the aircraft. The two officers said, "Sure no problem, and off we went." I would love to see a pic of the AC-47 as it was being repainted when we were there.
