that's 1 cooked turkey!!!, glad the pilot is ok. has there been any speculation to what started the fire??

That is really sad news. I hate seeing warbirds destroyed beyond repair like that. It must be a sad job when Scott adds the last line onto an airplanes warbirdregistry info sheet "Destroyed by fire 2009."

I'm so glad the pilot is alive. Seeing the pictures, it's quite amazing no lives were lost.

I hope the cause can be determined so that situations like this can be avoided as best as possible, and lives are not brought so close to an end.

Oh man.. I've seen Terry flying that bird many times. It is hard to see it destroyed like that, but thank God that Terry made it out.

Sounds like the pilot should be ok, judging from the fact he got her down & he escaped. Wish him the best.

Sorry to hear about the plane- but at least the guy flying made it out. Glad he was where he was- this could have been a real nightmare had he been over a development with no landing facilities nearby & with a passenger...

Wonder what happened- Possible fuel fire caused by a problem with the fuel lines where the wing folds? They said he reported his left wing on fire.

All the articles talk about the left wing being on fire, but in the photos the left wing is relatively intact and the right wing is completely burned up.

Also, notice in some of the photos from the links that there is interesting blackening of the left wheel well area.

Wow! That is very sad to hear. I have had the pleasure of flying with Terry on a few photo flights, mostly with the TBM. A very professional pilot. Glad to hear he got out and is recovering.

Oh man. Shae & I have known Terry for a lotta years. He's one of the "good guys", great pilot and personally a great guy and a lot of fun. I'm proud to call him my friend.

I'm told that the docs "expect a full recovery"..which is good news. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers though, folks, in any case since he'll have a long road ahead of him.

Pity about the TBM, but I'll trade planes all day long for friends like Terry.
