Something terrible seems to have happened to the Chevrolet Toenail. Needs new shock absorbers at the least.

BUT...if you took 2 or 3 of those and $$$$$$$$$$$$ you could have your very own S2!

Well, clearly it's not flyable presently, but the lack of a data plate is no reason for it not being restored to fly again. The aircraft registration is written clearly on the side, so provenance should hardly be an issue. You could easily request the records from the FAA. There are probably many, many warbirds flying which don't have their original data plates either... That being said, this S-2 will likely cost more to restore than it would to buy one in flyable condition, so the cheap acquisition cost is not really a clear indicator of its value.... still a really cool beast though.
Cheers,
Richard

More is always better when it comes to airplane spares! Bendix has made an assy. that is easy to maintain and overhaul!

Better brush up on 14CFR 21, 45, and 47. No data plate, and the airplane doesn't exist, as far as the FAA is concerned.

But you can always make a replacement plate.
